When clicking on certain elements of a visual, I can control the interaction this selection has on other visuals within the report, but I was wondering if there is the ability to completely disable the clickability of a visual? I don't want the end users to be able to click on the visual at all, so neither the selected visual or other visuals would be highlighted? Tooltips should still be viewable on hover.
This feature should be available for use in both service and desktop.
More information on the unsuccessful attempts people have made trying to achieve this with graphs/charts can be found here:

RE: Disable visual highlighting and interactions
Used a transparent box to block the user selecting cells, and that works well on desktop. However this workaround doesn't work well in the mobile preview.
RE: Disable visual highlighting and interactions
I have no idea how this isn't a base feature! I mean no disrespect to any developers who worked on Power BI, but it is obvious that not enough of the team has built reports for an industrial/manufacturing company before. I have a requirement to build a BOMVersion report for users to view legacy Dynamics AX 2012 data that wasn't migrated to a new ERP. The structure on the PBI report should go as follows: User selects Item Number in the slicer (InventTable) > This filters the BOM Version visual (BOMVersion) to only the BOMs related to the Item Number > User then selects the BOM in the BOM Version visual to filter the BOM Lines (BOM) visual > this displays only the BOM Lines related to the BOM Version selected. Nothing should happen when the user selects the BOM Lines, except when you do select a record on the BOM Lines, the filter resets and displays BOM Lines related to ALL BOM Versions... Adding a transparent rectangle would block the ability to scroll down the list of BOM Lines.Simply put, if Power BI wants to replace SSRS, then features as basic as locking down the ability to interact with a visualization have to be available.
RE: Disable visual highlighting and interactions
There should be a way to disable interactions on individual visualizations, pages and overwriting through hierarchy. Using transparent squares and visual tricks is not efficient at all.
RE: Disable visual highlighting and interactions
Figured I'd comment on this and say that I need it since clearly someone is paying attention 🙄
RE: Disable visual highlighting and interactions
When would this be available?
RE: Disable visual highlighting and interactions
This feature us a must have. We have hyperlinks in one of the tables' columns and popups. Covring the entire table with a transparent rectangle is meaningless.
RE: Disable visual highlighting and interactions
Still need votes? mmmh
RE: Disable visual highlighting and interactions
I frequently find myself in situations where I need to edit the interaction of multiple visuals (usually slicers). The current UI for this is terrible to navigate. If your report is complex in any sort of way, or if you have many visual elements, it becomes practically impossible to handle. Users should have the ability to edit interactions in the same way that they are able to manage table relationships or customize a visual's properties.
RE: Disable visual highlighting and interactions
We need this feature. We have hyperlinks in one of the columns and we cannot cover the entire table in a transparent object. Covering half the table and leaving the other half is a bad experience . Leads to more confusion.

Ok, after 2 years, more than 680 votes "it still needs votes".I wonder - does Microsoft user Feedback take into account at all?
