This is a continuation of "Allow runtime parameters in Power View and/or Power Query". Request this capability in Power BI Online so users can go to a dashboard and easily be able to search for a list of values. Currently the user would need to use a slicer and individual select each value. An example would be if I had list of part numbers to search in the dashboard. Currently I would need to scroll up and down in a slicer and individually select each one. In SSRS I can create a parameter dropdown and easily type in and even copy and paste values in to search for.

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

The one and only thing holding back using PowerBI as an enterprise reporting solution for multiple users with PowerBI embedded in an ASP.Net Solution is the inability to pass parameters via the URL to the query behind in the PowerBI Model in that same manner you can do it in SSRS. PowerBI is a much better UI with UI interaction that SSRS, but we are stuck with SSRS until similar functionality is made available. It is such a shame as we would migrate many of our SSRS RDL's to PowerBI Model deployed under Power BI Report Server.
It must be coming as Power BI Report Server which has superseded SSRS Report Server.

This is blocking our use cases where we wanted to share the report with multiple people in my organization.

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

This will be good if we can change query parameter online, the only other way is to download PBIX file which can be huge in size which is not feasible everytime

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

We have several hundred reports which use Crystal report which we want to migrate to Power BI. The vast majority of them use date range parameters. This is an absolute must-have in order for us to transfer our reporting solution into Power BI. I find it odd that such a simple requirement which has been asked for now for several years appears to still be missing.

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

A year later and the post below by an Anonymous User still has validity... When will Power BI Service allow us to change parameters that will refresh the data in the Model? I want to enter a date or dates and pass that to a Stored Procedure, function or View in SQL Server and have the underlying data inside the model refreshed. I do not want to have to load every available permutation of the data into a model and then create an extremely long List tied into a slicer to filter the data - make it a Live Query just like the name says!

Its one of the most essential features of any reporting tools available in the current market. SSRS have this for years now. Almost, all other reporting tools such as Tableau, qlikview has this."

Make the Power BI Service GREAT by giving us this ability!

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

We need this feature for sure as we have to make huge DB design changes and take dirty approach to design our backend

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

Please allow online parameters ASAP! This is a show stopper for our plans to migrate to PowerBI in an O365 environment!!

RE: Power BI Online Query Parameters

Yes, this would be very usefull. Or any other way to parametrization Power Query from Reports :-)
