How sexy the data looks is sometimes more important than how accurate it is!

I love a light grey/dark grey colour scheme as much as the next person, but it be great to be able to brand the dashboard with the organisation colours/background watermark/logos etc. Maybe offer an option to modify the default CSS used - similar to how blogging sites like blogger allow you to change your page layouts/colours with a simple admin gui or completely change it by rewriting the CSS

Hey everyone - I'm excited to share that we shipped dashboard theming this week: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-dashboard-theming-in-the-power-bi-service/. Give it a try and let us know if you have any feedback! Well, with Power BI, not only keep your data accurate but you can also now make it look - as Jakub originally stated in this idea - sexy. :)

Dashboard background customization with colour is needed

Customization and formatting in general is a major pain point with Power BI. I hope they can improve this quickly.

Is it possible to get an update on this? Under review for a few years now. If anything can the Dashboard just reflect the original visualization?

Would be nice if I can change the default, then our people can all save the effort to import the json for each new report they create. Then it will be done for them when I deploy the version via App-V

The theming in preview is nice but it doesn't really add anything that couldn't be done manually. Currently if you want a dark background it is impossible to carry that theme through to dashboards. You can have any background colour you like as long as it is white. Given the prevalence of dark themed dashboard tools these day it is surprising that something as simple as changing a background colour cannot be done and yet causes lots of grief due to end user expectations.

I can understand difficulties in allowing full background customisation given use of Dashboards for mobile purposes and for end user customisation but I wouldn't have thought it a big ask for background colour to be set and/or for tile colours to reflect the origin visualisation background colour.

This feature is highly needed. Customers need to see the reporting portal as part of Thier systems, with same L&F as well as logo.

Really need to be able to show a different coloured tile background to enable same charts for different departments to be differentiated

This is needed. For others still waiting I have found the following to be a useful work around

A Work around that may be useful in some circumstances.

Using the KPI Indicator Custom Visual will keep its KPI Colour when pinned. You have the ability to set the colours as needed. I usually just set the neutral KPI to what I need.

Viz can be found on the Office Store [KPI Indicator]

Yes, this would be great to have in place. Corporate colour schemes are just as important for the background as for the text and numbers.

There really should be a key principle in place in the development team - WYSIWYG - from Power BI Desktop to dashboards in the browser and on the phone (modified of course for the phone).
