Imagine a world where report creators can automatically apply slicer and filter selections based on specific logic, revolutionizing data analysis and user experience. This innovative approach eliminates any need for complex workarounds, optimizes slicer functionality, and paves the way for more efficient and effective data reporting.

Much needed
RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
Hello Team,
It would be a great thing to be able to default values using a slicer. If I have a set of years, I would like to be able to have "2017" as default value automatically, meaning that every time you have a new calendar year, Power BI Slicer will default to the new year.
Cheers,
YUKOS

Set a value for the selection of a slicer is a must have, please consider to evaluate a measure returning a table that contains a single column with one or many rows

I would like to see the ability to set the start and end ranges of a date slicer to select from a formula or query so that (for example) the user, when accessing the report, will see the last complete month selected for them. TODAY () = 3/3/2017 Slicer range should default to 1st Feb 2017 to 28th Feb 2017.

Along the same line of thought, the functionality for certain options to always be selected and the filter to select additional items would be helpful. For instance, I want my companies' locations to always appear on a map, and a filter to select certain competitors. Eliminating the step to not have to select my company locations each time would be nice. It may be best for the default items not to appear in the filter.

This would also be useful to prevent SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR measures failing because a Month slicer was used before the Year slicer thus showing an error message due to non-contiguous date ranges. Ensuring that a single (and only one) value must always be selected on certain visualisations would be great.
