The dataflows product is potentially very useful - I especially like the idea of being able to append historical data to incrementally refreshed data.
However, one major drawback is the fact that in order to use a dataflow in a dataset, you have to download it to the desktop, and then upload it back to the service once you've completed your data model.
It would be great if you only had to use the preview version of the dataflow in desktop, or even better, if you could do all modelling, DAX etc. completely within the service.
If there are workarounds for this I'd love to hear them.

RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
Honestly, it is downright silly that this is not possible in the web editor.Being forced to use the Power Bi Desktop application creates unnecessary complications.
RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
Is this being addressed?
RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
This is most definitely needed. It would be especially useful when developing reports in Report Builder. I'm already having to deal with enough work arounds to create Report Builder reports.
RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
Very much needed - especially as long as connecting to dataflows as an external user is as difficult/impossible as it is!
RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
Does this really need more votes?? How is it that you provide the ability to create a dataflow within the powerbi site, but then choose to disconnect being able to use it there as well??
RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
This is a key feature! Big limitation that makes me consider other tools.
RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
This idea needs to bubble to the top ASAP!
RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
has this feature been added in yet? Seems like a major core feature left out to not require users to bounce between service online to desktop
RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
Completely agree. This is a structural requirement.
RE: Dataflow-based Datasets in service
This is a very strange limitation if we already have the power query online instrument!
