RE: Ability to run stored procedure using DirectQuery

Having the same issue with running stored procedure using direct query. Several releases later and there is no solution.

RE: Ability to run stored procedure using DirectQuery

I've invested considerable effort into evaluating Power BI and have decided to suspend further work with it until this feature is enabled. I'm a SQL Server database engineer/architect with 20+ years of experience. It's inconceivable that this feature is still not available.

RE: Ability to run stored procedure using DirectQuery

We have a multi-tenant scenario. I can't imagine how I'm supposed to manage 50+ versions of the same query for each one.

Come on, MSFT, Crystal Reports has allowed the use of SPs since the '90s, NP. Tableau/Qlik have no issues with this either...hmmmm.

How does this not work out of the box. Same with the heir slicer it should just be there and work.

RE: Ability to run stored procedure using DirectQuery

Our users expect the data to be real time when it's queried - direct query allows that, but isn't allowed to use stored procedures that return data.

Table value functions are an alternative, but for one of our basic scenarios, the data has to be returned from a stored procedure. This really hinders us from using Power BI.

Please include this feature.

RE: Ability to run stored procedure using DirectQuery

This is the basic requirement that should be available. Please add this feature at the earliest.

RE: Ability to run stored procedure using DirectQuery

This is a crucial feature needed for teams using Power BI Report Server. We have existing stored procs that have been vetted over time that we use in SSRS regularly, and we need to have these available to our Power BI reports.

I am guessing this feature has to be used as part of paginated reports
