If I have a date/time field in my data, I should be able to view metrics by year, by month, by day, by day of week, by time of day, and so on. I should be able to drill from month down to day, back up to month, and so on.

I should also be able to ask for 'last 7 days' or '12 months ago' in my formulas, filters etc.

I shouldn't need to create a "Date" table and all of these fields in my data. As long as I have a date/time field in my data, I should be able to do this analysis easily in the Power BI report (or Q&A).

In the May release of Power BI Desktop we shipped a preview of the relative date slicer. To learn more check out this blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-feature-summary/ In addition, the new Quick Measures feature has a bunch of time intelligence calculations that you can add to your model. Learn more about that feature here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/quick-measures-preview/

I would like to see the option for an interactive graph where we can visualise changes per time period. For example on the map, you can see volumes in locations growing or decreasing over time like in a movie.

This should not be closed yet. It's still not possible to easily filter data by month, week, day, etc as mentioned in this idea. The only part completed were the second sentence "I should also be able to ask for 'last 7 days' or '12 months ago' in my formulas, filters etc", the rest is still pending.

It would be great if we had the possibility to select for example "filter by month", then have a dropdown list (or buttons) with all the months available in dataset. Or either give the possibility to block the interval of days between start date and end date in date slicer (ie: 7 days) so the user could simply move the interval shown forward and backward in time with just one click

Love the amount of progress MS is making adding features. However, this can't be closed yet. While a slicer is great for user experience, we need the same ability in the filters!

Hey, the relative date slicer is really cool. BUT it is not possible to change from "relative" to "between" (or other options) after the Slicer in the Report is published and viewed in PBI Web. Correct? Will that be implemented as well?

I brought in date field but it did not sort logically by month within year.

Hi, is this related to also being able to plot times on a y-axis of a scatter graph as well? As per the following link:
https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Plotting-times-on-a-graph/m-p/13616#M3460
I work in the transport sector and it's paramount to plot times (y) vs service number (x)

Need hierachy to be configurable eg turn off Quarters or turn on Week No

Any Type of SQL or SSAS Performance reporting needs Date / Time in the X axis

Would be nice to be able to split dates in Q's as well. E.g. for Gannt charts I have situations when Years is to coarse and Months are to detailed.

I agree, to messy and time consuming to create DAX formulas an new metrics.

Would be nice to in a date slicer be able to set "Today", "Last week" etc.
