In September 2017 we announced that Power BI Desktop is available through the Windows Store, giving automatic updates: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-at-ignite-2017-announcing-enterprise-ready-capabilities-for-establishing-data-culture-at-scale/
If you're not able to update to Windows 10, vote for this idea so that Power BI Desktop can be made available through Microsoft Update to older versions of Windows.

The fact that Auto-Update does not exist through the application is insane. Power BI should be updated through windows update or by pressing an update button inside the application.

our company has locked out the windows store so we need a way to auto update without the store, we are running windows 10.

Automatic updates need to be enabled through Windows Updates. To try and keep track and manually go to each machine and install an update is very demanding on a Helpdesk, especially having to coordinate with the end users to set aside some time from there busy day for someone to either remote in or stop by and install the update.

We block the Windows store. We have around 20 Power BI users and deploying updates through Windows Update would be a much better solution for us.

Automatic Updates from Windows or Microsoft Update Services would ease customers to have the latest version on their desktop.
Since PowerBI will be integrated in Excel and Office updates came from this canal, at least in the past, why not put PowerBI in it?

It such a waste of time that everyone has to duplicate what we do to deploy a program that has updates every month, and can effect how it works if it's not up to date. Please give us an automated option.

voting this up as enterprise that has no windows 10 store and uses sccm to push soft to client machines, need and automatic way to update this desktop app within the app itself.
This should have been done to begin with since Enterprise tool sets are almost always updated like this...

Voting for Windows Update. Enterprise apps require enterprise deployment tools. would it help if I say "please"?
