I have posted this question to StackOverflow and appears that a short name for Power Query Formula Language that is not 'M' does not exist.

Power Query Formula Language is too long

M is too short

We have discussed this on Twitter and there are good ideas. Thought I would post it here to make it official :)

PQL. Recognizable, familiar, simple.

I highly support a new name for the M Language. For me there is one major reason. With a new name it would be much easier to google questions and/or information.

Google with M and keywords is often useless. Google with Power Query Formula Language and keywords is pretty long.

So it would be great to have a short and unique "identifier" for the language.

I honestly don't care what the TLA is for this (my votes would to go TQL, MQL or PQL), but the essential thing is that we desperately need a TLA for this language. M is far too short to be helpful, and with the de-branding of Power Query in the Excel UI, it's very unlikely that any user will even know to search for Power Query in any way. Give it a proper name and advertise that in the UI so that we can give users a fighting chance of actually finding teaching resources and help with the language.

Fully support idea.
PQL, PQFL, or
DTX (data transformation expressions)
DPX (data processing expressions)
or something else.

You got my votes - though I might call it PreQueL the thing you use BEFORE the data comes in. Sort of sits well with SeQuel As well.
