I frequently must prepare Power BI dashboards and reports that will be consumed predominantly by persons not deeply familiar with the Power BI environment.I would like to have the ability to lock/unlock visualizations for editing on a report page. A locked visualization would not be able to be moved or resized. It also would not have the visualization selection box appear when interacting with the visual. cross filtering and selection of objects within a visualization should not be affected. This would allow a published dashboard to have reports that share the same "finished" look and feel as the dashboard view.

On the View tab in Power BI Desktop you'll find a 'Lock objects' option. This prevents objects from being accidentally moved or selected, but still lets you interact for cross-highlight, drill etc.

I agree that the lack of this feature is limiting adoption. Spotfire has a feature where all the active visualisation can be saved, so multiple views and filters can be saved.

I agree! This is very much a necessity, all too often graphics get changed ever so slightly, but enough to make a difference when analyzing the report and then the entire process is skewed as a consequence!

is this not done yet. this one feature will slow adoption of PowerBI more than any other missing feature. Internal and external client reporting is not possible without a read only version, many large companies do not distribute certain type of data / reports to internal and external groups unless they have TOTAL control over the report, this cant be done with out a lock feature.

Definately needed.

Locking to prevent moving, resizing, deletion and changing the type of a visual.

Maybe some keyboard shortcut to enable/disable locking of the selected visual could be most fluid from the perspective of report designer's workflow.

I'm looking for this as well. Should be a great feature.
