It would be a good thing that a moderator groups some ideas. When looking for ideas I see very often multiple ideas saying a bit the same thing. I know, all due to users not searching good and starting all their own idea.
But this makes the votes for some good enhancements to low. Quite some people have the same idea is a good sign that their is a need, but all these votes get spread .. And that is not good.

Power BI Ideas has 2423 ideas of similar requests on a visualization request "Stacked Area Chart with Line". It would be awesome to consolidate similar idea requests. I will promote this idea rather than creating another one!!!

It would also help to include a useable Search function, similar to Google, with mandatory terms in quotes and allowing multiple terms. The existing search function is a throwback to the earliest internet searches!!

The Anonymous suggestion below seems like it is crying out for some Machine Learning analysis of text based data, I wonder what product MS might have to drive something like that?... ;-P

It would be much more helpful to have the search results within Power BI Ideas be sorted by number of votes, with the highest votes first. I don't have time to sift through all the pages to see which hit I should actually be voting on. I see lots of repeat ideas.

Simply have the authors of both ideas agree to a proposed merger.

Or perhaps, to reduce moderator overhead, as someone is entering a new idea it could perform a text search based on the text entered, and display existing ideas that might already encompass the desired outcome. If some are found, have the system indicate that upvoting the existing idea might produce faster results.

When merging, the votes and comments should be merged as well.
And/or perhaps allow to create "links" between ideas.
Perhaps, the moderator overhead can be reduced if "idea sharer"s of both the ideas, agree to/accept the merge.
