We'd like to be able to run a SQL statement in the Snowflake connector window

Administrator on 23 Jul 2021 23:32:29

The ability to write custom SQL is now available, to learn more about the connector details please visit: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/snowflake

RE: Snowflake connector -> add SQL statement as optional

Looking for an update on this as well -- the planned & posted solution was not what the original idea was.

RE: Snowflake connector -> add SQL statement as optional

You've changed the feature details in the linked planned case. Allowing custom SQL in the Snowflake connector is essential - please update us.

RE: Snowflake connector -> add SQL statement as optional

Will the custom SQL feature be added in the September 2021 Update?

RE: Snowflake connector -> add SQL statement as optional

Any update on this? The link given by the Administrator no longer includes the requested feature (the ability to put custom SQL in the Snowflake connector) in the release plans. Please update this idea.

RE: Snowflake connector -> add SQL statement as optional

The referenced march 2021 release is not wat is requested here.

Please add the ability to insert a SQL statement when connecting to Snowflake, like any other DWH (SQL/Oracle) connector does!

RE: Snowflake connector -> add SQL statement as optional

The Microsoft docs link from the Administrator originally indicated Custom Role and Native SQL features in the connector release; as of March 18th, that link indicates only the Custom Role support.
"The Snowflake connector will add support for custom roles. This will allow users to have much greater specificity in returning the required data."

@Microsoft and Administrator, please update the status of this Idea if it is no longer Planned, or add an updated link and information for the planned feature.

This is a high priority feature for Power BI to efficiently connect to Snowflake and minimize Snowflake credit cost.

RE: Snowflake connector -> add SQL statement as optional

Snowflake custom SQL query has NOT been released as part of the March 2021 update (only the ROLE has been added). When will this be released @Microsoft?
