If I have a date/time field in my data, I should be able to view metrics by year, by month, by day, by day of week, by time of day, and so on. I should be able to drill from month down to day, back up to month, and so on.

I should also be able to ask for 'last 7 days' or '12 months ago' in my formulas, filters etc.

I shouldn't need to create a "Date" table and all of these fields in my data. As long as I have a date/time field in my data, I should be able to do this analysis easily in the Power BI report (or Q&A).

In the May release of Power BI Desktop we shipped a preview of the relative date slicer. To learn more check out this blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-feature-summary/ In addition, the new Quick Measures feature has a bunch of time intelligence calculations that you can add to your model. Learn more about that feature here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/quick-measures-preview/

Great that we now have basic date/time functions in the Power BI Desktop November update.. but why is there no "week" option? Only year, quarter, month and day.. really need this :)

1. Be able to select certain periods but for different years (ex. Q1 and Q2 of 2015 and Q1 and Q2 of 2014).

2. Trailing Twelve Month aggregation (same as above - be able to select TTM (trailing twelve month) ended September 2015 and TTM ended Sept 2014.

3. Be able to trend by aggregate period (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, [2014], Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 [2015]) Or (TTM ended Sept 2015, TTM Ended Sept 2014, TTM Ended Sept 2013, etc)

Being able to use DAX time intelligence would be a great help e.g. calculating Sales This Month, This month last year, Fiscal Year to date etc.

Drill is now available in the new release, but unfortunately, it is still limited to Calendar Year. No easy fiscal year option like in Tableau.

Keen for this as well. I've only just started using PowerBI but it was the first thing I needed to do so pretty disappointing that it's not a simple step.

I would like a similar thing to the performance point time intelligence but more dynamic

Any update on this?

Filtering by mont, day, etc. does not seem to work yet
