This has been implemented for tables as of March 2020:
Power BI Desktop March 2020 Feature Summary | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft Power BI
We're well aware, however, that more can be done to improve its discoverability--as well as to extend support for the feature to other visuals (like the matrix). Keep an eye out for future developments!

Please add this feature
RE: Add a multiple columns sort feature
Easily sorting by multiple columns would be a big benefit. I'm losing time trying to find a workaround for this which in Excel would take 2 clicks. Please implement!
RE: Add a multiple columns sort feature
I'm new to Power BI and can't believe this isn't a feature. Same with being able to format column header text (ie bold, underline etc)
RE: Add a multiple columns sort feature
I have a matrix that contains one column that lists dollar amount ranges ($1 to $100; $101 to $250; $251 to $500; etc.). As you might imagine, this doesn't sort in the correct order. I have a second column that contains the sort values that would force the dollar amount ranges to sort correctly, but I can't figure out how to get the matrix to sort by that column without displaying it. I'm hoping this idea would resolve that.

Would love this
