Please add Collapse/Expand buttons in the Matrix Visualizations. Otherwise when all fields are expanded by default the user would have to scroll a lot to find what they are looking for. I could add a slicer to take user to the data they are looking for but then the rest of the data in the matrix disappears and more specifically the overall totals change!Expand/Collapse buttons would keep the overall totals as intended and totals for other fields while allowing the user to only expand the field they are interested in. Also ability to do conditional formatting for a specific field in the matrix would be nice. Thanks!

With our November update of Power BI Desktop, you can now expand/collapse matrix row headers. You can read more on our blog: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#expandCollapse A few people were asking about column headers. As some of the work involved for column headers is different than row headers, we want to understand how many users specifically need/want column header support as well. If you need column header support, please vote on this idea that I added to UserVoice: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200/suggestions/36038050

RE: Matrix +/- Collapse/ Expand Buttons

There are other registered ideas that are almost the same as this one. This uncontrolled idea submitting option is not efficient. I think this is a really important feature but because of the inefficient registration does not get the votes it deserves (now its fragmented).

In my opinion PBI should try to match the Excel pivot table functionality as close as possible.

Hi,

Great idea but I think it's covered in this one that has more votes:

Hopefully someone can merge these as it would great to see it happen ASAP.

I would be really nice and useful to have the drill down ability in table/matrix visual. In addition, it would be useful to have a collapsible/expandable feature to allow to hide/show details in columns in a table/matrix visual.

Just as a comment. Most of customers under Power BI projects are ex "Power Pivot" users. This means, they are more than used to Pivot Tables. It is a must that the Matrix visualisations starts to resemble as much as possible as excel pivot tables. The +/- collapse/expand will make a big step towards this.
Thanks.

As already stated. This is critical functionality.

RE: Matrix +/- Collapse/ Expand Buttons

Why is this not in a "planned" state yet? As others have said, the Power BI matrix is really lacking compared to Excel Pivot Tables which is a shame because if they were equivalent or better, Power BI could in many ways surpass what Excel can do in that regard. Plus, as it works now, Tableau's Pivot Table visual is quite a bit better than Power BI's, even though Power BI has the foundation to be a better product overall.

RE: Matrix +/- Collapse/ Expand Buttons

Power BI is behind Excel in this area. I'm struggling because Excel is great with Pivot Tables and Power BI is really lacking here.
