It would be great to be able to lock the elements in the desktop version so that when using the scroll bars (on a slicer) that the control does not lift off the page and be dragged after I have found the items I wanted to tick.

In fact being able to lock the elements down so that they cannot be moved (from maybe a Top left corner anchor point) would be better all round

We released this feature in the November update of Power BI Desktop! Learn more in the blog post: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2017-feature-summary/#lock

RE: Lock elements

We need an option to lock objects and especially to prevent objects to get focus. We came up with a brilliant design for our client, using HTML viewer in the background, but now this element pops on top whenever you click outside one of the elements on top and so basically all elements disappear for the user behind the background. This is so frustrating, because the HTML background solved all our layout and performance issues with having too much elements on one page.

RE: Lock elements

Can we lock the object permenently? I have locked the object from view as a Lock Object but once i closed it and started again it's not working anymore.

RE: Lock elements

I'm with anonymous! the locking feature which was released in Nov is great - but ideally this setting should save with the report to prevent accidents from people downstream while they are using the reports that have been developed.

Do we need to create a new idea for this?

RE: Lock elements

In the November update it is stated that "this setting isn’t saved with the report, so you’ll need to enable it any time you want to use it".

It is useless function if the setting is not saved. The idea of locking elements was possibility to distribute to other users dashboard like reports so they can't move objects by mistake. Please re-open the idea and add saving option!!!

RE: Lock elements

Also Kim, it would be great if as part of the lock, we could get rid of the component outlines so that mousing over your dashboard didn't highlight them. i.e. put the report into read-only mode (less filters).

RE: Lock elements

agreed with everyone (above) and below. Lock or pin elements to the page so it won't accidentally move, especially with laptop trackpad, trying to click a checkbox!
