Power BI leads the user to believe it is possible to export summarized data at the level of the current view. In fact, the result of [Matrix grid] > Ellipsis > Export data is that data is exported at the lowest level of the drill-down path.
In one case, I am viewing 4 rows of data in my matrix grid (drilled up to the top level of the data hierarchy). When I export to xlsx, i get over 15,000 rows of data (summarized at the lowest level of my data hierarchy).
Users should be able to export data at the level they are currently drilled down to on their report.

Please add this feature, is very important for reporting purposses due to the people than check the report wants to download the data at the level of the matrix visuals that they want, not to the minimum level

Please implement- this would help a lot for our Org and is a critical reporting necessity! What is the status on this now in March of 2020?

We'd like this too! Sometimes, the data shown in a matrix at a higher level isn't able to be recalculated in Excel with a pivot table if it's a measure where the columns being used aren't included in the table.

Please enable the export of summarized data. This is desperately needed to avoid further time-consuming processing after data is exported.

I reiterate all of the comments before me. My users want to export visual data at the same hierarchical level with which the visual is drilled at the time of the export.
PLEASE add this functionality, as there are and WILL ALWAYS be instances where people want raw data that they can manipulate in excel!

Most definitely need this. It is great to create a matrix that can be drilled into, but users often need to export at a certain level. The underlying data is often too large to export and we would also rather not recreate in excel with Pivot tables.

Highly appreciated. I now have to build separate Reports for the different drilldown Levels.
