My organisation only allows connectivity to the SAP BW system (or any SAP system) using the SAP router string. It would be beneficial to allow this type of connectivity rather than just providing the application server.

Hi, this is holding our capabilities to use Power BI for reporting. Need to connect to SAP.

RE: SAP Business Warehouse connector include SAP router string

Customers want to use a secure connection to their SAP backend using the SAP Router as a governance issue. This is blocking Power BI adoption.

RE: SAP Business Warehouse connector include SAP router string

'Hi,

I did some research and it should be easy to add:
- Power BI does use the standard .NET connector from SAP (see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/desktop-sap-bw-connector#installation-of-implementation-20-sap-connector)
- The documentation for this thing is at http://logosworld.com/docs/SAP/Connector/SAP%20Connector%20for%20Microsoft%20.NET%20%20NCo_30_ProgrammingGuide.pdf
- Page 41 of the documentation shows that this is just another attribute to the connection string

regards

RE: SAP Business Warehouse connector include SAP router string

For many companies the missing SAP router string makes PowerBI a dead end

Waiting for it - love the front-end but if I can't access the data it's useless

RE: SAP Business Warehouse connector include SAP router string

Since 2016 and still today October 3rd 2019, it is impossible to connect Microsoft Power BI to SAP when SAP uses router string - like other software concurrents in 2014 !

RE: SAP Business Warehouse connector include SAP router string

This is a serious problem. This explicitly means that every organisation using SAP Router will not be able to connect their data with Power BI.

Hello,

Only to insist in the situation.

It's needed to provide a solution for not to decide another tool to acces SAP BW Data.

SAP Basis Admin in the cliente only allows conexions as /H/SAProuteAddres/S/portSAPRouteAddres/H/SapServerAddres .
I'm with Power Bi desktop 32 bits and SapConnector 3.0 following the instructions
https://docs.microsoft.com/es-es/power-bi/desktop-sap-bw-connector
