Since it seems to depend on .net runtime only (at least more or less), why not port the gateway to linux? There are many customers who want to run linux only backends and are scared of having a windows machine running alongside their holy glory mission critical infrastructure...

RE: PowerBI Enterprise Gateway for Linux
The gateway (on windows server) can access mysql databases on linux as well.
RE: PowerBI Enterprise Gateway for Linux
Agree. It seems there is only a gateway into MS. The world is bigger than the OS from Seattle
RE: PowerBI Enterprise Gateway for Linux
This is much needed, there are millions of LAMP servers across the Internet and Intranet that need this!
My organisation is totally cloud based and needs to connect and analyse data from a Linux MySQL hosted web server with the PowerBI service. I guess it is possible to run the gateway, as a service, on my laptop utilising the PowerBI desktop to server connection but this is less than ideal. Connection from PowerBI service to a Linux host running a Linux gateway is sorely needed.
RE: PowerBI Enterprise Gateway for Linux
'We need:
- create gateway for Linux (we have linux enterprice PCs, but we must have hole Windows-machine only for using Power BI GateWay)
- add multiple accounts from different domain support (we cant create different pay subscriptions even we have several domains, so we must register separate subdomains. But in this case we have to use two gateways, and as result - two windows machines only for gateways)
- add possibility to set custom emails for error notification after update error (now email notification after gateway update error not works)

Much needed here
RE: PowerBI Enterprise Gateway for Linux
Will Enterprise gateway be compatible with other OS System in future, in our case for Linux Database Server (oracle DB on Linux)
RE: PowerBI Enterprise Gateway for Linux
This is important for clients who want to adapt Power BI but don't have source systems on Windows Servers. The awesomeness of Power BI should not be limited to the Microsoft eco-system only :)
