RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

We succed to connect Essbase to PowerBI using a middleware tool that works with BSO and ASo, use substitution variables and keep all the advantages of the Essbase cubes. Its name is kShuttle. No needs to have a complex star schema export link Essbase Application Link does: Datas access are realtime from the cube, and it work with any size of database.

RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

It would be very nice to have the feature to extract the dimensions by level or to transform them instantly as an Star Scheme.

Thank you for the beta!

RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

I fully agree with the previous comments. There is still a lot to achieve for this connector: performance, speed, ergonomics, MDX implementation, reasonable documentation
Currently it is too risk in productive environment.

RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

Hi Miguel, I tested this connector beta on a BSO cube and it only works on small cubes. When I tried to use on large cubes it did not work even on BSO cubes. I am currently using ESSBASE version 11.1.2.4 and it does not even work on small cubes. Here I have several ESSBASE applications in version 11.1.2.4 and we adopted the PBI as presentation layer. Please help me.

RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

Hi, I tried using the connector and while I can connect to essbase server, Navigator screen only shows an empty folder and no applications\cubes listed. I am using the version downloaded 3 days ago, so I assume it would be the latest one (2.65.5313.1381 64-bit (December, 2018)). Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a fix?

RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

PS to my earlier comment, on our server we have combination of BSO and ASO cubes. None of them terribly large.

RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

Hi Miguel, are you planning to create a native integrator? I thought XMLA connector should work naturally. We are Hyperion implementation partners and we recently implemented hyperion at an organization where PowerBI is their enterpirse choice. I will update our findings in a few days after testing out XMLA option.

RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

How can I get the URL for the Essbase Connection? I´ve got only the server and the Database.

RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

You have to use the URL http://server:19000/aps/XMLA, then you can login with one of your Hyperion logins, like admin.

It seems that I'm only able to see BSO cube metadata. When I connect to an ASO cube, it pulls back these long strings of numbers, instead of dimension names and members. Anyone know if Essbase ASO is supported in Power BI desktop?

RE: Hyperion ESSBASE

Has anyone successfully connected to Hyperion using this connector? We have tried with two sets of Hyperion credentials but have not been successful.
